TV Mounting Above a Fireplace in Houston
Mounting a TV above a fireplace takes extra care. We use the right anchors for the wall, check the heat around the mounting area, and make sure the TV is positioned at a comfortable viewing height.

How we mount a TV above a fireplace
- 01
Heat checked before drilling
Before drilling, we check how much heat reaches the wall above your fireplace. If it gets too hot for a TV, we’ll tell you and suggest a safer spot.
- 02
Anchored in the brick, not the joint
We drill into the bricks themselves, not the mortar lines between them, because bricks hold better. We never rely on mortar to hold the TV.
- 03
Stone and tile, drilled clean
We use diamond-tipped bits at low speed and collect the dust at each hole. On uneven stone, thin spacers go behind the bracket so it sits flat and level.
- 04
Wires hidden during the same visit
Above a fireplace, we hide the wires in a slim paintable channel along the chimney. Once it is painted to match the wall, it blends in.

Fireplace TV mounting questions
Is it safe to put a TV over a fireplace?
It depends on the fireplace setup. A gas insert with a mantel that directs heat forward can be suitable, while an open wood-burning fireplace without a mantel can expose the TV to too much heat. We check the temperature at the wall before drilling and let you know what we find.
What does a fireplace mount cost?
The fireplace add-on is $30 on top of your TV size price. Brick adds $35, and uneven stone or tile adds $50 because they need different hardware and more careful drilling. You’ll see the full total before you confirm your booking.
Will the TV be too high to watch?
A tilting bracket can angle the screen down toward the couch, making an above-mantel TV more comfortable to watch. We set the tilt with you sitting where you actually watch.
Can you hide the wires on a brick chimney?
Yes. Since wires can’t run inside brick, we use a slim paintable channel along the least visible edge. Once it is painted to match the wall, it blends in. The channel is $25.
